hi, i’m kristen!
I have been surrounded by fiber artists since I was little. From my mom, who loved to quilt and cross stitch. And my grandmother, who made her own porcelain dolls with big, victorian gowns. These women showed me that there were so many different forms of fiber art to explore and I ended up falling in love with doll making.
Doll-making is a versatile form of textile art because you get to incorporate different types of fiber manipulation. Whether it’s a simple crocheted granny square scarf or a more complex set of fairy wings - there’s so much variety to explore! It’s so exciting to research and try both new and old techniques. Which is why I also joined my local lace guild! They are working on preserving knowledge and teachings about different kinds of handmade lace. I am hoping to be able to pass on what I learn from researching and experimenting with these various techniques to anyone who wants to learn them. Maybe that’s what brought you here?
